The Power of Taking ACTION

We’ve all had those negative thoughts that tell us that we shouldn’t take action or do something.

Sometimes, it’s because it seems like it is simply too big of a deal for us to get started.

Sometimes, it’s because we don’t know what we don’t know.

Planning without action is simply thought.

We need to look at getting started and focus on the small things that we can do to get started and take action.

Seeing how we can get through one task and then another allows us to focus on those small milestones thereby bringing what we started to fruition.

As the great Zig Ziglar said, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

Hello and welcome to another episode of MOJO: The Meaning of Life & Business. On today’s program,

00:00:12.000 –> 00:00:21.000
we’re going to be talking about the power of action. Given that is the last day of mental health awareness month,

00:00:21.000 –> 00:00:29.000
I figured it would be good for us to have this conversation

00:00:29.000 –> 00:00:43.000
Because there’s a lot of different pieces. that come into play when you talk about the power of action very often the power of appointment is limited because we overthink things we say we can’t get started because it’s

00:00:43.000 –> 00:01:01.000
simply too much to do. If you have children who have adHD like I do sometimes, seeing so many questions on it test or on an assignment, is way too overwhelming to the point where they don’t have the ability to even

00:01:01.000 –> 00:01:09.000
see how they can get started very often when we’re dealing with a lot in life or in business.

00:01:09.000 –> 00:01:21.000
Fear of failing becomes a reason for us to say no, no, no, no, I can’t start if we say we are just simply going to start.

00:01:21.000 –> 00:01:28.000
We are not going to let that be the impact that is going to stop us.

00:01:28.000 –> 00:01:35.000
We are going to have a easier time at getting started. The great Zig Zigler

00:01:35.000 –> 00:01:43.000
said it the best, you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to get great.

00:01:43.000 –> 00:01:49.000
You want to think about what it is that you’re doing in your life, or in your business.

00:01:49.000 –> 00:02:05.000
That is really going to make that difference for You very often. we also get bogged down by it’s just way too much to do like, I said earlier, but the minutia of it all, and then we start thinking well in order for me to

00:02:05.000 –> 00:02:18.000
do it. it’s gotta be perfect it’s gotta be this and then every other dull and whistle that can be there for us to figure out it’s going to be exactly what we want here’s the thing to remember

00:02:18.000 –> 00:02:29.000
though there is something called MVP. and I don’t mean most valuable player, I mean minimum viable product.

00:02:29.000 –> 00:02:35.000
If you think about what your minimum viable product is and you’re really paying attention?

00:02:35.000 –> 00:02:41.000
Did those specific pieces in terms of what your minimum viable product is.

00:02:41.000 –> 00:02:46.000
People are going to be thinking very differently when they see your product.

00:02:46.000 –> 00:02:51.000
They don’t need every bell and whistle that you would potentially want there in the beginning.

00:02:51.000 –> 00:03:04.000
There is something also called a desired feature set and a trivial feature set, which ultimately simply means you’re adding a couple more bells and whistles to the desired one that maybe people would like to have

00:03:04.000 –> 00:03:11.000
when they buy your product or start doing whatever it is that you’re going to be doing.

00:03:11.000 –> 00:03:16.000
And the trivial one is where really doesn’t even make a difference if you think about it in this regard.

00:03:16.000 –> 00:03:24.000
When you see any product on Tv in an infomercial product, and they say they’re giving you an extra piece.

00:03:24.000 –> 00:03:35.000
That is a desired feature set when you are adding that in isn’t really going to be swing somebody to buy as an example.

00:03:35.000 –> 00:03:43.000
If you’re buying a particular month and you get a sponge, not an extra mop head, but you get us handheld sponge.

00:03:43.000 –> 00:03:48.000
Is that going to be the thing that is going to make you buy?

00:03:48.000 –> 00:03:59.000
Or alternatively, if you are seeing you’re going to be getting the I don’t know something else with it right.

00:03:59.000 –> 00:04:05.000
A coupon for $20 off of wine – maybe if you like wine, and that’s going to make you buy.

00:04:05.000 –> 00:04:16.000
Most people, though, are going to say that’s the trivial feature set; the thing that’s not really going to make me connect and say I have to buy it.

00:04:16.000 –> 00:04:35.000
You want to be thinking Where are your goals right you want to plan where you’re going, and follow through and know how you’re also looking for those milestones to see how you’re progressing planning without action is just

00:04:35.000 –> 00:04:44.000
thought you need to make sure that what it is you’re doing is really going to get started is going to push you out there.

00:04:44.000 –> 00:04:49.000
Think about the minimum viable product. Do not get bogged down with all of the other pieces.

00:04:49.000 –> 00:04:56.000
Very often you can get by with just that minimum viable product or the MVP

00:04:56.000 –> 00:05:01.000
like we said, that you can really get started down the road.

00:05:01.000 –> 00:05:07.000
You can decide. You wanted to add an additional piece to to the process.

00:05:07.000 –> 00:05:18.000
You also want to think about this. You have 5 seconds from the moment you have a thought, until your brain is going to talk you out of it.

00:05:18.000 –> 00:05:23.000
Think about that for a second. You had a thought a couple of moments ago.

00:05:23.000 –> 00:05:45.000
I’m going to get started doing something within 5 s though your brain totally switch tech, and said, i’m not ready to be at that point. If you commit within 5 s that you are going to be doing something and really do it you’re going

00:05:45.000 –> 00:05:56.000
to be much better off doing it as an example. if you say I gotta talk to this person at an event, and you say I have to talk with them.

00:05:56.000 –> 00:06:05.000
Don’t stop and think well i’m not big enough I really shouldn’t on this on that it really doesn’t matter within 5 s.

00:06:05.000 –> 00:06:10.000
If you don’t start walking over to that person you’re going to back away.

00:06:10.000 –> 00:06:16.000
Your brain is naturally going to self-sabotage you and make you pull away.

00:06:16.000 –> 00:06:19.000
You need to get started, Wayne Gretzky said,

00:06:19.000 –> 00:06:40.000
You miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take. When you think about action, you think about you getting started doing something is really

00:06:40.000 –> 00:06:49.000
Really super important for you to poing to room. How are you going to be better because of what you are doing rather than what you are not doing?

00:06:49.000 –> 00:06:59.000
Again. Action without moving forward is simply a thought. You need to be starting to do something.

00:06:59.000 –> 00:07:09.000
You need to be focused in on making a positive change and a positive action to get through where you want to be.

00:07:09.000 –> 00:07:20.000
The more that you can really focus in on those key areas the better off you are ultimately going to be.

00:07:20.000 –> 00:07:29.000
It is your challenge. Now, what are you going to do? What are you going to take action on to get started?

00:07:29.000 –> 00:07:37.000
I’d love to hear what you have in mind for where you want to go.

00:07:37.000 –> 00:07:42.000
I would love to see how you’re going to get there until next time.

00:07:42.000 –> 00:07:53.000
